The Vineyards
"A Serenada" is located in the southern part of the wine region of the Peninsula de Setúbal.
The vineyards are located 10 km from the Alentejo coast, benefiting from the influence of the Atlantic breeze.
Its location, 150 m above sea level, on the Grândola mountain range, provide the necessary nocturnal freshness for proper maturation.
The predominance of iron, shale and grauvaques in the soils gives wines an excellent minerality and complexity.
"A Serenada" integrates two vineyard plots with different geographical locations that make up an area of 7 hectars. The oldest plot was planted from 1961 to 1971, while the new plot was planted from 2008 to 2019. Both of them are managed by sustainable agriculture and integrated production.
Old Vineyard

The field blend planted in 1961 and 1971 portrays a magnificent ampelographic collection with a precious portfolio of ancient, local and national grape varieties, with a predominance of red varieties. The Castelão variety deserves to be highlighted, because it forms the base of all red wines. The vines are not irrigated, which allows a controlled growth of the vine, focused on the ripening and quality of the grape instead of excessive leaf growth.

Wine Making

All plots are harvested manually, providing an early opportunity for the grape selection. Harvest timing is based on flavour development and laboratory analysis, where the focus lies on having adequate levels of tannins and natural acids.
The wines are produced in the cellar, strategically located next to the vineyards. Each wine is made according to a unique process taking into account the grape varieties, location of the plot, and the chosen fermentation and ageing environment (barrel and / or stainless steel). The handmade character and the boutique spirit are the hallmarks of this family project.
